The MAHA Festival is an annual music festival held at the Lewis & Clark Landing on the banks of the Missouri River in downtown Omaha.
Building on the rich history of independent music in the city, MAHA started in 2009 as a way to support the artists that Omahans love and raise the profile of Omaha in the national music consciousness. It is truly a concert for Omaha, from students to local acts through to national touring bands, with an eye toward growing the festival into a Midwest concert destination.
The MAHA Music Festival is owned and operated by YFC, Inc., nonprofit established to facilitate the event. Running MAHA is a collaborative effort, bringing together the YFC Board, Management Team, volunteers, and sponsors.
The dream is to eventually create a multi-day event, featuring musical, visual, and culinary arts displays and interactive exhibits around Omaha. By including the entire Omaha/Council Bluffs arts community—venues such as Film Streams, The Bemis, Hot Shops, Metro Community College’s Culinary Arts, The Holland Center—the festival will become a seasonal destination for music lovers in the Midwest, much as South by Southwest has become for Austin, TX.. A weekend of outdoor music and arts will benefit local charities, and greatly enhance the economic development of the city.
