Selected from over 450 entries from 28 countries, the 2011 Omaha Film Festival will showcase 92 feature films, documentaries and short films! While committed to showcasing Nebraska film makers, OFF is far from a regional event - last year’s 5th annual festival received entries from 25 countries! This year’s festival should prove to be no less diverse.

OFF is a 501(c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the experience of Omaha film-viewers and filmmakers alike. Each year, the non-profit hosts two events: the conference and the festival, in addition to a schedule of parties throughout the week (plus a special sneak preview bash/open house about a month before the conference held at the North Sea Films building, 2626 Harney Street, which serves as the OFF office). Click here for ticket information.

The Conference

The 2011 OFF conference is held from March 5-6 – all sessions will be at the Great Escape Theatre in Theater #2. Conference panelists include: Shane Black (writer on “Lethal Weapon” and “The Last Boy Scout,” wrote and directed “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” and will be directing the upcoming “Iron Man 3”), Tom Elkins (editor on “Red Eye” and “The Haunting in Connecticut” and will be directing the upcoming film “The Haunting in Georgia”), Mauro Fiore, ASC (Academy Award winning cinematographer on “Avatar,” as well as “Training Day,” “The Kingdom,” and “The Island”), and Ted Griffin (writer on “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Matchstick Men” and an executive producer on “Up in the Air”).

The Festival

The Festival takes place from March 2 – 6 at the Great Escape Stadium 16 theater in North Omaha (7440 Crown Point Avenue), opening with a special showing of Ceremony, starring Uma Thurman and Michael Angarano. Other things to watch out for include a screening of The Last Lions and the many Short Film Blocks, especially the Nebraska Short Film Blocks at 8pm on March 4th and 8:45pm on March 5th. Click here for a complete listing of the 2011 film screenings and you can also go online to buy tickets.
