As part of Community Development Week, the City of Omaha presents "I Believe in Places," a lecture by Chicago-based artist, cultural planner, and performer Theaster Gates. Known for work that directly engages issues of race, class and place with an uncommon generosity and sense of inclusion, Gates is a catalyst among artists, activists and audiences. Currently underway, Gates’ Town Hall + Carver Bank project is an effort to develop a new cultural space in North Omaha.
