Bank of the West Concert
For the 20th consecutive year, the Bank of the West Celebrates America concert is coming to Memorial Park in Omaha!
For 2010, classic rock greats Foreigner, Styx, and Kansas will be featured as part of the national "United In Rock" tour, along with the traditional fireworks show (which starts at 10pm). This free event should be a great success, as Foreigner were the top vote-getters in fall polling of Omaha-area residents. You wanted them, you got them! Be one of the over 40,000 that are expected to attend.
Foreigner
More than 30 years after forming, Foreigner’s music resonates across generations and the globe thanks to the impressive run of nine top 10 hits, 14 top 20 hits and album sales exceeding 70 million. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 1977. It sold more than 4 million copies and included hits such as "Cold as Ice," "Feels Like the First Time" and "Long, Long Way From Home."
Styx
Star status for Styx started with the release of its 1972 self-titled debut and continued with 1973’s gold album Styx II, followed by the 1974’s The Serpent is Rising and 1975’s Man of Miracles. To date, the group has 16 gold records, singles and videos as well as 10 platinum (with many multi-platinum) albums. Top songs included "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," "Blue Collar Man" and "Fooling Yourself."
Kansas
Fusing the complexity of British progressive rock with an American heartland sound representative of their name, Kansas was among the most popular bands of the late 1970s. Best known for their hit singles "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," 37 years has passed since the band’s original formation and the group is still going strong.
