Application Deadline: Hue & Cry
Encouraging the arts community to make more successful work through critique and informed discourse – Hue & Cry provides local artists with an opportunity to have their work reviewed by a panel of art professionals and their peers.
Each critique will take place in the Bemis Underground and the sessions will be closed to the public. What is discussed during the event will remain confidential – what’s said during a Hue & Cry review stays within the group - creating a space in which the artist and the review panel are free to openly and honestly discuss the work being presented.
The review panels will be assembled with the presenting artist in mind. They will consist of a mix of fellow artists, curators, professors, collectors and writers.
Artists who would like to be reviewed should select up to five pieces of work to bring for their session. Artists working within all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. If the work is too large to transport, high resolution digital images can be used – but we strongly suggest bringing the actual work, if possible. Applications will be kept on file, so there’s no need for you to reapply each month.
To request a critique, please download an application and return it to Brigitte McQueen, Underground Manager via email at brigitte [at] bemiscenter [dot] org or by mailing it to:
