EmailMembers of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery will kick off the holiday season with a First Friday opening reception 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2012, celebrating their all-members holiday show, “6x6,” which runs Nov. 26 to Dec. 30, 2013.
Bronze water nymphs, paintings of peaceful winter landscapes and abstracted fall foliage, thoughtful mixed media pieces considering life’s fleeting nature, quilted fabrics evoking topographical maps, local signs portrayed in moody night-time light, and gem-like worlds that appear in layers of abstract paintings are among the many subjects explored by member artists within the confines of 6x6x6”. The only theme for this show is the dimension of the work, which offers affordable gift-giving sizes for holiday shopping.
The gallery expands its hours during the season, staying open late on Thursdays. Holiday hours between Thanksgiving and Christmas are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday; noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Also, the gallery will be open Thanksgiving night as part of the Holiday Lights Festival from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 28.
The Artists’ Co-op has been showing the work of respected regional artists for more than 35 years. This cooperative group of artists conducts educational and cultural outreach activities, and it maintains and staffs a gallery that features works in a wide variety of media, including sculpture, weaving, painting, pottery, photography, printmaking and drawing. Monthly opening receptions provide opportunities to meet member artists and learn more about their work.
