UNO’s Office of Student-Community Leadership and Service and Hike to Help Refugees will host the annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) on April 20 to raise awareness and funds for Sudanese refugees, the largest refugee population in Omaha. The UNO and metropolitan communities are invited to participate in a short hike on the Turning Point Campus; 3223 N. 45th St. The event will be held in conjunction with GYSD, an international day of service, and will feature several interactive learning stations. Hike to Help Refugees has been raising money and educating the community about refugees since 2002. The funds raised provide food, shelter and other life-saving supplies for the refugees.
