Silent Auction Fundraiser
Members of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery will host
a First Friday opening reception 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014,
featuring champagne, chocolate and music as they launch a month-long silent
auction in an effort to raise funds to improve the gallery’s building.
For the auction, many members donated embellished panels that had
been in the gallery’s entryway; starting bids offer very affordable price points
for buyers interested in beginning or expanding their art collections. In
addition to 16” x 16” wood panels, there are small paintings, glass, ceramics
and wood pieces available in the auction. “Buy it now” prices allow buyers to
take pieces immediately; other bids will be accepted until Feb. 23 and buyers
securing the winning bids will be notified.
Funds raised through the auction will be designated to improve the
building’s heating and cooling systems, replace the roof and deteriorating
windows.
Visitors to the gallery will notice the freshly painted entryway
featuring newly created panels from most member artists. Internet users can get
previews of artists’ work on the gallery’s new web site: artistscoopomaha.com.
Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday;
11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Artists’ Co-op has been showing the work of respected regional
artists for more than 35 years. This cooperative group of artists conducts
educational and cultural outreach activities, and it maintains and staffs a
gallery that features works in a wide variety of media, including sculpture,
weaving, painting, pottery, photography, glass, jewelry, printmaking and
drawing. Monthly opening receptions provide opportunities to meet member artists
and learn more about their work.
